What We Do

We are dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Below are examples of activities listed in our three main areas of interests.

Promoting Patriotism

  • Support the Veterans Life Center in Butner, North Carolina, with supplies and monetary donations
  • Support Wreaths Across America and participate in wreath laying ceremony
  • Observe and participate in Veterans Day activities
  • Attend naturalization and U.S. Flag retirement ceremonies
  • Participate in the Anniversary of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, March 15, 1781
  • Honor civil servants in our community

Historic Preservation

  • Mark the graves of local American Revolutionary War Patriots
  • Place markers at historic sites in our county
  • Participate in historical restoration projects, including the gravesite of Lt. Mathew McCauley, 10th NC Regiment, Continental Army
  • Support the National Society for the preservation of NSDAR buildings
  • Participate in local historically based programs, tours, and events

Education

  • Support of the Waccamaw Siouan STEM Studio whose mission is to increase science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) awareness and opportunities within the indigenous community
  • Support literacy programs that include the Book Harvest, donations of school supplies, and tutoring in local schools
  • Present the Sallie Markham Michie Trust Awards to UNC-CH graduate students
  • Support Crossnore Communities for Children
